Conference on Hope at ICSJ. Submit by May 10

The international conference Communicating Narratives, Imaginaries and Epistemes of Hope will take place on 7 September 2026 at the ICSJ FSV UK in Prague. The event is organised as a joint conference of the IAMCR working group Communication, Social Justice and Democracy and will serve as a pre-conference to ECREA 2026.

The conference will focus on how people talk about hope and how it is represented in society and in the media. Hope is understood as an important element that shapes how we think about the future and how we respond to current challenges. The discussions will therefore address not only how the media describe today’s problems and how different groups express their visions of the future, but also how communication can contribute to positive social change.

Researchers are invited to submit proposals related to the conference theme in the form of abstracts of 400–500 words. Abstracts must be submitted by 10 May 2026 to vaia.doudaki@fsv.cuni.cz.

The conference is intended for researchers in media and communication studies as well as related disciplines and will take place in person at the Voršilská Centre in Prague.
