Discussion seminar: The Czech Citizen Parliament

Culture and Communication Research Centre (CULCORC) Seminar Series is pleased to invite you to a discussion seminar entitled “The Czech Citizen Parliament: Analysing Media Change, Participation, and Democracy”, which will take place on Wednesday, 28 January, at 3:00 p.m.

This seminar will examine the Czech Citizen Parliament as an illustrative case, through which the broader dynamics of contemporary democratic practices can be explored. The speakers will discuss how shifting media environments shape possibilities for civic expression and how democratic cultures evolve when citizens, technologies, and institutions interact in new and innovative ways. Drawing on findings from the European MeDeMAP research project, the speakers will reflect on the value and challenges of such participatory models in contemporary democracies.

On this occasion, Nico Carpentier, Jefrey Wimmer, Miloš Hroch, Štěpán Šanda, and Vaia Doudaki will speak, with Josef Seethaler serving as the respondent.
