About SCORE
The Sports Communication Research Group (SCORE) at the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism brings together researchers interested in the relationships between sport, media and society.
The group examines how sports news and narratives are selected, framed and interpreted; how athletes, journalists, sports organizations and fans communicate through digital platforms; and how media representations shape the visibility of gender, disability, identity and inequality in sport.
SCORE’s research covers sports journalism and news values, social media and athlete self-representation, audience responses, para sport and disability, gender and equality, visual communication, and comparative and historical perspectives on sports media. Its members use content and visual analysis, interviews, audience research, innovative methodologies, and cross-national comparison to contribute evidence to scholarly and public debates on inclusive, responsible and innovative sports communication.
On 9–10 November 2023, SCORE organized Sports Communication in Transition, a conference of the ECREA Temporary Working Group “Communication and Sport”, at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague.
