International Day of Women and Girls in Science: How did FSV UK female researchers succeed in the academic world?

On February 11, we traditionally celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. On this occasion, we mention a number of successes achieved last year by female academics from the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University.

Antonie Doležalová from the Institute of Economic Studies and Kateřina Králová from the Institute of International Studies became professors last year. In mid-December, they received the appointment decree from the hands of President Petr Pavel in the Great Hall of Karolinum.

Female researchers from FSV UK also participated to a large extent in conferences with an international scope. For example, in November, the Lessons and Legacies conference was held for the first time in the Czech Republic, co-organized by Hana Kubátová from the Institute of Political Studies.

Doctoral students also achieved respectable successes. Karolína Poliaková, a doctoral student at the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism at the FSV UK, went far abroad, receiving a Fulbright scholarship for research at the prestigious Columbia University in the United States.

During the year, several female scientists also presented their academic work and everyday life in the De Facto faculty podcast. Eliška Vejchodská from the Institute of Sociological Studies, for example, talked about what her students are like today.
