Department of Marketing Communication and Public Relations

The history of the youngest department of the institute is not long, but is all the more interesting. In the academic year of 2004/2005, the first students in the study field of marketing communication and public relations (MCPR) entered their first year of study. The founder of the field, Dr. Pavel Dolanský, became the guarantor of the field. The department itself was established in 2008 under the leadership of Associate Professor Jan Halada, who was replaced in 2011 by Associate Professor Denisa Hejlová. Since its very beginning, MCPR became one of the most sought-after fields and its graduates quickly established themselves on the labour market. In the academic year of 2020/2021, the department opens the first year of the post-Bachelor’s programme in strategic communication.

Today, the MCPR department consists of a solid base of internal members, complemented by external experts - especially by leading figures in marketing and public relations from practice. The department specializes in research in the field of strategic communication, marketing, public relations, in the commercial, public and non-profit sectors. In 2018, the head Denisa Hejlová received the Prize for Lifetime Contribution to the field of PR, awarded by the Association of Public Relations Agencies.

Since 2005, MCPR has been organizing a successful Summer School of Marketing in collaboration with the University of Missouri and McCann Prague agency. In 2012, the department and its students founded the online server Markething.cz, which belongs today to the major marketing media in the Czech Republic.
