  • Conference on Hope at ICSJ. Submit by May 10

    The international conference Communicating Narratives, Imaginaries and Epistemes of Hope will take place on 7 September 2026 at the ICSJ FSV UK in Prague. The event is organised as a joint conference of the IAMCR working group Communication, Social Justice and Democracy and will serve as a pre-conference to ECREA 2026.

  • How do military alliances shape support for military interventions globally? Evidence from a cross-national experiment

    In the newly published peer-reviewed article Marek Vranka from the ICSJ FSV UK, together with his colleagues Michal Smetana and Ondřej Rosendorf, analyze whether formal alliance treaties boost public willingness to support military interventions and whether this effect holds beyond the Western world.

    On Tuesday, 14 April 2026, during the Academic Senate FSV UK meeting, the Golden Courses for the best courses of the Winter Semester 2025/2026 according to the student evaluation were awarded to the lecturers. The award is accompanied by financial reward. Congratulations to all recipients!

    We invite you to a seminar on the challenges facing journalism in a time of rising far-right populism in Europe.   • How social media portray migrants: a study reveals the role of gender stereotypes

    Extraordinary professor at Charles University Nico Carpentier, Associate Professor Vaia Doudaki, and doctoral researcher Miloš Hroch from ICSJ, are co-authors of a recently published article in the journal European Journal of Cultural Studies, which focuses on intersectional discourses of migration and gender in the social media environments of three European countries – Belgium, Greece, and Italy.
