A glance at Italian journalism - Media system, political independence, and current threats

Carlo Berti will be a guest lecturer of the course Teoretické koncepty ke studiu žurnalistiky II. The lecture will take place on 29 April, from 9.30 to 10.50 a.m. in room 215.

The lecture will focus on describing the main characteristics of Italian journalism and its relationship with politics. Issues concerning the relationship between journalism and politics, as well as media ownership and concentration will be outlined. Furthermore, the current state of Italian journalism and the risks journalists face, from physical and verbal threats to the problem of SLAPPs (public lawsuits against public participation) will be discussed. Finally, the forms of media consumption of Italians will be analysed.
