Videogames inspire players to visit real-world locations and are increasingly featured in state-funded tourism campaigns. But how does videogame tourism differ from film or literary tourism, and who decides what these places become? Drawing on fieldwork in China and Japan, Dale Leorke will explore these questions in the guest lecture Playing the Place: Videogame Tourism and Its Destinations, taking place on 19 October at 12:30 in room H215 at Hollar.

The exhibition “Kimonos from Kyoto: A Vanishing Beauty,” organized by Denisa Hejlová from ICSJ, showcases a private collection of traditional Japanese garments. Visitors can view the exhibition from September 1 through October 30 at the Japanese Information and Cultural Center in Prague.

The Communicating Narratives, Imaginaries and Epistemes of Hope conference has announced its programme. The event, which will take place at the Hollar Building on 7 September 2026 from 9:00 to 17:30, will focus on the constructive force of hope and on how visions, discourses and practices of hope associated with democracy, peace and justice are expressed in media and communication.
