Centre for Strategic Communication
The Centre for Strategic Communication was established in 2023 as a new part of the Centre for Media Studies of the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. Its aim is to develop research and lifelong learning in the field of strategic communication.
Its main thematic focus is on four areas:
- science communication,
- health communication,
- institutional communication (public sector communication, governmental and organisational communication, etc.), and
- digital communication and new trends (artificial intelligence, influencer marketing, etc.).
The head of the Centre for Strategic Communication is Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Denisa Hejlová, Ph.D.
Within the Centre for Strategic Communication, the Creative and Responsible AI Communication (CRAIC) research and education group has been set up in 2023.
Its members are Mgr. Martin Richter (martin.richter@fsv.cuni.cz), Mgr. Markéta Kaclová (marketa.kaclova@fsv.cuni.cz) and Assoc. Prof. Denisa Hejlová, Ph.D. (hejlova@fsv.cuni.cz). Professor Josef Pallas from Upsalla University is affiliated to the Centre for Strategic Communication from January to September 2024.
The aim of the group is to research artificial intelligence and its ethical use in strategic communication and to educate various stakeholder groups.

Objectives
Our vision is to connect and facilitate mutual understanding between different societal groups, contributing to the development of knowledge, critical thinking and decision-making.
The mission of the Centre for Strategic Communication is to bring a better understanding of complex social phenomena in which interpersonal and organizational communication plays a significant role. We analyse and interpret how communication co-creates fundamental social practices and frameworks, whether in science, health, technology, or policy.
Our core values are the promotion and development of democracy, freedom, consumer protection (especially for children and adolescents), good governance and fostering mutually beneficial relationships between different social actors.
