Thanks to this interdisciplinary program, you will become an expert in communicating sustainability issues. You will gain knowledge in intercultural communication strategies and sustainability principles in marketing and media communication. Your potential employers include government agencies, companies, NGOs, media and communications agencies, public and private media outlets in Czechia and abroad.

Graduation Requirements

To successfully complete the SUMAC programme, students must complete courses worth at least 180 ECTS credits, and pass a state examination, which consists of defence of the Bachelor’s thesis and an oral exam.

Compulsory courses (92 ECTS credits) form the core of the programme and account for. These courses introduce the fundamental concepts and knowledge in each of the programme’s four main areas. As part of this core, students also complete Bachelor’s Thesis Seminar I and II (20 ECTS credits in total), which guide them in selecting a research topic and preparing their thesis.

Students can sharpen their academic focus through elective courses (50 ECTS credits). A wide range of electives is available across the four study areas, allowing students to specialize in one or more fields of interest.

Optional courses (18 ECTS credits) can be taken at any faculty or department of Charles University. These credits can be used either to take more elective courses or to broaden the student’s horizons beyond the main fields of the programme.

The number of ECTS credits signifies the expected difficulty of each course. The standard workload is 30 ECTS credits per semester.
