The first phase of the Hollar building renovation and modernization is complete. We are opening the new Hollar Student Zone

After extensive reconstruction and modernization of the former library at Hollar, the Hollar Student Zone is now open to students, offering expanded facilities for study and relaxation.

We cordially invite you to its opening, which will take place on Wednesday, 5 March 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the presence of the FSV UK Dean, Tomáš Karásek, and the Director of the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism, Jakub Končelík. In addition to the renovated space, the faculty management will present the results of last year's survey on the future use of Hollar and outline plans for the further development of the building.

The event will also introduce the new manager of the Na Hollaru café, Frederik Španer, who runs establishments such as the Slavia café, the Forbína bar or the FAMU Club. Under his management, the café will reopen around mid-March. You can look forward to a small tasting at the opening.

The newly established Hollar Student Zone will include:

  • modern multifunctional rooms for FSV UK students and doctoral students, which was created on the premises of the former library. Its entrance room will serve as a relaxation and study zone - it offers about thirty seats and tables with outlets. The back part of the original premises operates in the mode of a study room with an on-site collection of selected publications from the fields of journalism and media studies. It also includes a reference fund of social science literature. The fund contains more than 1,000 titles and is available exclusively for study on-site, without the possibility of off-site loans. The study room will operate without librarians.
  • popular Na Hollaru café  with a new manager, whose aim is to preserve the character of a student café. He also wants to continue the tradition of organizing cultural and social events in the courtyard.
  • reopened Hollar courtyard, which will once again provide a quiet environment for meetings and studying. The back entrance from Divadelní Street is also operational again.

We look forward to meeting you!
