On 18 December 2023, we will welcome Kenneth CC Yang as the guest lecturer. He is a Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Texas at El Paso, USA, and a Fulbright-Masaryk Distinguished Scholar with the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Masaryk University, Brno.
The title of his presentation is “Employing a Computational Text Mining Method to Investigate Gamplayers’ Experiences in the Squid Game: Theoretical and Methodological Implications for Communication Researchers”.
Kenneth C.C. Yang’s research focuses on new media in political and environmental communication campaigns, cross-cultural consumer behaviour, and Asia studies. With a keen editorial background, he has edited/co-edited books like Asia.com: Asia Encounters the Internet (2003), Multi-Platform Advertising Strategies in the Global Marketplace (2018), and Cases on Immersive Virtual Reality Techniques (2019). His extensive research has been published in prestigious journals including Cyberpsychology, Journal of Strategic Communication, and others.
The lecture is a part of the JKM185 Media Mondays I elective course, offered by the Master program of Media and Area Studies (MARS).
