Call for Abstracts for ReMeD Conference

In February 2025, the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University will host a conference titled "Regulation and Accountability in a Hybrid Media System: Content Creators, Algorithmic Plurality, and Online Platforms." This conference is organized within the framework of the ReMeD project, coordinated by doc. Němcová Tejkalová at Charles University. The event is thematically connected with the Horizon Europe project MeDeMAP, led by prof. Nico Carpentier at Charles University.

Call for Abstracts

The call for abstracts is now open for individual papers and panel proposals. Submissions are welcome from authors as well as those interested in attending the conference as part of the audience. The conference invites participation from various disciplines, including media studies, political science, law, sociology, computer science, and others.

Conference Topics

  • The role of technology in transforming media markets
  • Impacts of changes on the democratic functions of media
  • Development of business models in media and their influence on journalism quality
  • Regulatory frameworks for media pluralism and combating disinformation
  • Use of generative AI in journalism and media business

Abstract Submission

  • Abstract Length: 300-500 words

  • Requirements: All abstracts must be anonymized (authors' names and affiliations should be included in the body of the email only)

Participation and Registration

The conference is funded by the ReMeD project HORIZON-CL2-2022-DEMOCRACY-01-06, thus no conference fee will be charged. Interested audience members are also asked to register to help estimate the number of participants.
