Strategic communication experts Jesper Falkheimer and Mats Heide from Lund University will speak at ICSJ
At the invitation of Denisa Hejlová, Professors Jesper Falkheimer and Mats Heide from Lund University in Sweden will visit the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. On 14 and 15 October, they will take part in a meeting and deliver lectures on strategic communication. -
How do videogames transform tourist destinations? Dale Leorke will speak at ICSJ
Videogames inspire players to visit real-world locations and are increasingly featured in state-funded tourism campaigns. But how does videogame tourism differ from film or literary tourism, and who decides what these places become? Drawing on fieldwork in China and Japan, Dale Leorke will explore these questions in the guest lecture Playing the Place: Videogame Tourism and Its Destinations, taking place on 19 October at 12:30 in room H215 at Hollar. -

Mental Health Day on 8 October 2026 at the Jinonice Campus and in the Hollar and Opletalova Buildings

Metascience at FSV UK: Workshops with world experts Gilad Feldman and František Bartoš
On Tuesday, 29 September, two workshops focused on metascience and open science practices will take place at FSV UK (Voršilská 1, room 508). Starting at 9:30, Gilad Feldman (University of Innsbruck) will demonstrate how AI tools and automation can be used to check and improve scientific research. Starting at 13:30, František Bartoš (University of Amsterdam) will lead a practical workshop on publication bias adjusted meta-analysis in JASP. -
What is the gaming industry not telling us about the origins of video games? Jan Švelch has published a new book revealing the behind-the-scenes story of the video game industry
The prestigious publisher Routledge has published a new scholarly monograph by Jan Švelch from the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, titled Behind the Scenes of the Video Game Industry: Storytelling, Power Dynamics, and Myth. The book focuses on stories about how video games are made and examines how the video game industry presents its operations, working practices, and the people involved in game development to both the public and the academic community.
